In 2013/14 Armitage had started to find his voice as a solo artist, performing solo in Byron Bay Australia while also traveling back to his old home to Wellington, NZ to perform and record these tracks.

Over Oceans makes up his blueprint for future work, showing an impressive range from the heavy electric blues moan of Her Spell to the gentle brazilian inspired acoustic guitar and psychedelic soul of Calm down.

Armitage had in April 2013 said farewell to his roots in Wellington. The bands Family Cactus, Ginger Brown, The Boom Shack, Sharkness and Good Laika, The Blue Barn recording studio, plus 30 guitar students all wished him luck for a new phase of Byron Bay van life, new love, surfing, busking and performing full time.
